At ACER we expect everyone on the team to return home from work in the same condition that they arrived in.

Splicing Technicians

Splicing technicians fuse fiber optic cables together using specialized fusion splicing equipment. Once spliced, testing using the proper testing equipment and method must be accomplished to ensure there has been no significant loss of light transmission during the splicing process. Utilizing both the splicing and then testing of fiber optic cables is the only way to be certain that optimal splicing results have been achieved. ACER Splicing Technicians install new fiber lines, replace damaged lines, and troubleshoot outages occurring in existing network lines.

Job Description

At ACER it is our policy to provide a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and partners. To accomplish this, we promote industry safety standards and environmental awareness in addition to employee training programs that encourage safe work practices. These policies are designed to avoid injury and promote safety education. ACER intends to always comply with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances having jurisdiction in the areas in which work is being carried out.

Accidents can cause suffering and/or financial loss to our employees, customers, and ACER itself. Due to this, accident prevention is an integral part of our operating policies.  Each project, task, and activity will be planned with the necessary procedures and expenses to avoid, bodily injuries, damage to the work site, and damage of work materials.

Safety is the responsibility of every employee at ACER. The coordination of safety policies and procedures are directed by the Vice President of Technical Operations and monitored and carried out by the designated worksite leadership based on the conditions and scope of the work being accomplished. All company employees are required to follow safe work standards and to take an active part in protecting themselves, their fellow workers, others, and the work site. Active safety engagement requires a “see something, say something” culture that promotes the enforcement of proper safety protocols. The proper use of personal protective equipment and attending crew safety meetings is a minimum requirement in the ACER safety culture. On the job, safety requires the establishment of three basic conditions: a safe working environment, employee training and awareness, and a culture that promotes accountability to one another. Environmental awareness for safety often does not initially come naturally, but with effective safety education, reinforcement of safe behaviors, and supervision that motivates the sustainment of safety practices, accidents and injuries can be eliminated.

At ACER, our goal is to eliminate all safety escapes and incidents that may cause injury, damage, or service delay.  As such, full cooperation of all concerned is the expectation.
