Small Cell Technician

Successful Small Cell Technicians will possess strong communications skills & be able to work well with others, have a “whatever it takes” work ethic and dedication to completing assignments, and a willingness to take on outside plant installation tasks that may or may not be associated with small cell activities. In addition to these traits, a Small Cell Technician is expected to complete all scopes of work assigned while ensuring the safety of themselves and others, the quality of work accomplished, adherence to assignment schedule, and budget expectations.

Small Cell Tech skills and training include grounding, trenching, installation of antennas, installation of assorted antenna mounts, installation of microwaves, installation/splicing of coax lines, TMA’s, RF jumpers, remote electrical down-tilts / Bias-T’s, remote radio heads, fiber/DC Hybrid cables, site audits, concrete work, and maintenance type items. Adherence to OSHA, Customer, and Wireless Industry standards is a must.

Position is based out of Daytona Beach, FL

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure work is performed and completed in accordance with local, state and federal regulations, including assistance with permits as well as inspections
  • Perform elevated work on small cell sites daily to conduct repair and install equipment; may include multiple sites daily
  • Perform civil work to include trenching, digging, concrete forming and pouring
  • Technical support when necessary
  • Punch list generation and resolution during normal project schedule and in advance of any customer inspections
  • Operation and adjustment of commonly used tools in the wireless industry efficiently
  • Frequent performance of duties in outside weather conditions w/ occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions
  • Traffic control as necessary as per city/county jurisdiction

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in wireless and/or telecommunications construction
  • Position is based out of Daytona Beach, FL (Some overnight travel may be required)
  • Experience with fiber optics, coax cable, carrier adds, LTE and 5G
  • Experience with installation, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems as they relate to equipment installation and failure
  • Ability to operate company vehicles and properly tow/back-up trailers
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications
  • Experience testing and working with Fiber
  • Experience with and the ability to perform elevated work with a 50 lb. load
  • Experience with and the ability to work on a ladder or bucket truck
  • Able to crouch, kneel, and twist throughout the work day
  • Able to reach, grasp and climb with both hands
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and drive or ride in a truck for long periods of time
  • Travel Requirements: Must be available to travel
  • Flexible to work shift work to include maintenance window and weekends if needed
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an MVR record that classifies you as insurable if required to drive and the ability to drive long distances on and off road and to tow trailers
  • Must be 21 years of age or older if required to drive
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical if required to drive
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background test
  • Good oral and written communications skills and the ability to speak, write and read English
  • OSHA Safety standards certification is preferred (will provide training)
